It’s estimated that there are over 1,500 chimpanzees living in community groups within the protected Kibale National Park. Out of these, about four communities are habituated. This means that these chimpanzee communities, although wild, have become accustomed to human’s visiting and behaving in a predictable manner.
There is also a limit to the number of people for each chimpanzee trek. Therefore, it is important to book your permit in advance. Our Kevron African Safaris specially designed itineraries will take care of your needs.
Depending on your location in Kampala, our company representative/driver will pick you up and transport you to Kibale National Park, celebrated as one of the premier safari destinations in Africa for chimpanzee tracking. Arrive at the park in the afternoon, indulge in lunch in Fort Portal town, and then embark on a 2-3 hour nature walk in Bigodi Wetland before proceeding to your lodge in Kibale. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.
After a satisfying breakfast, embark on a chimpanzee trek with packed food and water. Meet your guide at the head office, enter the rainforest, and spend 2-5 hours searching for chimpanzees. Once located, dedicate an hour to observing and capturing photographs of them. In the later afternoon, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, relax at the lodge, and settle in for an overnight stay.
